After the drivers meeting at 9 we started for the trails at 9:30. From the parking lot we drove down past the old office and took L3 to A and then B to 1a and Turned on to a section of trail 1 then back down to B and over to the pole line. All of us took the far right line and completed the descent without any issues or spotting. The water crossing/ Mud pit made Ryan a little nervous and we were able to find a route around it since the water was a little deeper than normal and he is on 31’s. After the pole line we turned on to H and entered the west property.

** If I missed anyone please let me know!!
It all started about 9:30 AM, January 1st, 2016 at the East Market Street Sheetz in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Thirty-some rigs pretty much took over the pizza parking lot next door. There’s no way we wouldn’t have completely blocked up the Sheetz lot! Good thing the pizza place was not open yet. There was a group of three Jeeps at the Sheetz that said they would join us on the trail. We decided to keep the group all together and not split up this year. The decision was made to run up Dunkle Hollow since the long run down Rt33 and the easy run up the trail that starts at Switzer Lake would make it easy to keep the group together. Less turns.

Thanks again to Bryan for leading the New Year’s Day run and providing such a good report!
As Bryan already eluded to, Ryan Gillespie was with us at Sheetz and then had to leave and didn’t make it on the trail. He took care of things and was ready to catch up to us by about 1pm. He reached out to me to see if he could still salvage some trail time since he had driven all the way out there from Alexandria. We relayed directions, some correct and some not quite so, and he eventually hit us head on right around the mud flats. Once the primary group continued their way down the mountain, led by Bryan, a small group of us were headed back the other way to get Ryan some trail time.
