Annual Working Wheeling @ Rausch Creek Off Road Park
February 25th & 26th 2012 Trip Report

Another fun working/wheeling weekend at Rausch Creek! The weather wasn't always the best, but it got better each day. On Friday evening we had some rain on the way up but it cleared by the time we got there and setup camp. It felt a lot colder than the weather report due to really high winds but all the campers survived. During breakfast it suddenly started snowing sideways for a few hours, but cleared up during the afternoon. Saturday night was slightly less windy and therefore warmer and Sunday cleared up and was actually quite pleasant by the afternoon.

I led trail rides on Saturday and Sunday after we cleared trails (NE property both days - blue/black and then some greens).

On Saturday, we were clearing trails on the NE property but decided to split into two groups and head over to the west property where we knew the trails and could cover more ground since we only had a half day. We also had some stock vehicles and wanted to make sure they wouldn't have any problems taking on trails we had never driven before. My group consisted of

Jeff Huff - 1994 LR Defender, 33's, rear locker
Ed Kang - 1984 LR Defender, stock on 29" clown tires and a rattle under the hood
Dave Doyle - nissan titan - stock
Allen Myers - JK with some goodies
Don Winkelman & Barbara Turville & Sam - it's a tj
Morgan Franklin - YJ on 35's, funcky flat/inverted springs :)
Doug Stephens - 2000ish LR Discovery 2, 33's open/open
Paul Neubert - Ford explorer, 35's, open on the rear and something up front
Charles Galpin - 1994 LR Defender 90, 33's, rear locker when needed (Jason Lavender passenger)

We headed to J1 and took it to the end, took 15 back to 11, to 12-A, 12-B, then 12-C. At this point it was getting late so we headed back to camp. We somehow made a wrong turn and ended up taking 2 off of pole line to B. Silly me. We couldn't resist driving the pit at the end of 1c on the way out either. Everyone did great and we had no problems and barely any spotting. It was crazy cold at this point so we headed to the Red Lion Cafe for dinner early.

On Sunday, we got a late start due to working till 12:30 or 1pm, then Ed got a flat tire. By the time we got him patched up there were only three of us interested in doing blues so it was just

Doug Stephens - 2000ish LR Discovery 2, 33's, open/open
Paul Neubert - Ford explorer, 35's, nice lift, open on the rear and something up front
Charles Galpin - 1994 LR Defender 90, 33's, rear locker when needed (Jason Lavender passenger)

We had been clearing trails on the NE property again so took advantage of it and did trail 32, then 31. At some point 31 crossed a block section but it was short so we decided to continue. It was a pretty tough section but with spotting and some rock stacking we crossed it and completed 31. We backtracked around to 34 and drove it, and then took green trails out as it was getting near 4pm.

Thanks to Chip and Scott and everyone else who helped make the trip a success. I didn't take any pictures, but my passenger did and I'll send out a link once he puts them online.
