Morgan Franklin 1994 Wrangler YJ on 35"s - OCC member
Kevin McHale 1999 Cherokee XJ on 33"s - 101 student

Richard Quaye 2004 Wrangler Rubicon TJ on 32"s - 201 student ( I can't
remember the passengers name. Sorry)
After the Sunday 101 and 201 runs were over a few of us wanted to go up to
the Pinnacle rock overlook. Morgan, Jim, and Richard had started packing
their rigs, but gladly stopped at the idea of some more trail time and going
to Pinnacle. We left Camp 2 at 2:30 and headed to the Sow Tubing area.
Unfortunately the gate was locked. We decided to head up through Canyon. A
half hour later we got to the steep washed out area at the East end of
Canyon. It is washed out much more than last time I came through. I guess
due to the unusually heavy rains we've had this year. I made several
attempts at both sides, but my YJ just couldn't get past this obstacle. I
backed down to the side of the trail and let Richard try next. In Richards
hurry to do this trail with us he had forgotten to air his tires back down
and could not get the traction needed to climb the obstacle. He backed down
next to my Jeep to air his tires down and Jim took a shot at the steep rocky
hill. It had started to rain lightly and one side was getting a little wet.
Jim hit the dry side and after a couple attempts he was able to climb the
rocks. Kevin hit the obstacle next. He tried both sides, but could not quite
get up. Since Kevin was driving my Cherokee, he was not pushing it as hard
as I would have; I hopped in the XJ and managed to get it past the obstacle.
Richard was aired down and tried again. He still couldn't quite get up, so
we hooked a strap up and Kevin gave a little tug. After 45 minutes and with
three vehicles up and being fairly close to the final trail to Pinnacle we
decided to leave the two YJ's and move on. We got to Bunny hole and turned
left to get to the parking area near Pinnacle. We hiked up to the rocky
overlook, and hung out for a short time. The rain had passed and the storm
missed us. The view at Pinnacle was amazing as usual. At 4:40 we arrived
back at the Bunny Hole. We stopped to look at the big rocks there. I then
guided Kevin through the area adjacent to and just downhill of Bunny. He was
able to get through although the left rear wheel did get a bend in the rim.
Not quite enough to pop the tire. We headed back to Canyon. No problems
navigating down the rocks that gave us trouble climbing up. We picked up the
two YJ's and headed back to Camp 2. We arrived back at Camp 2 at 5:30,
packed up, aired up, and said our goodbyes. It was a great weekend. Lots of
different levels of trails, rigs, and driver experience. Thanks you to all
the OCC Staff, and to all the learners for coming out and participating in
this sport we enjoy so much.
Happy Motoring,
