We all decided to go out in one group to do some light to moderate stuff. We left camp onto Trail B and took the right turn onto Trail 2. We moved down Trail 2 until the one hill that goes up and over to the left on the way down. After I went over, Suzzy and Chip bypassed it and everyone else made it without issues. I was just messing with Suzzy when I told her that since she didn't do the hill, she had to go through Frog Hole. She didn't think too long before she said that she would do it. Thinking ahead I hooked a strap to the front before she dove, I meant drove in head first. She got a little more than half way through before I needed to hook the other end of the strap to my YJ to pull her out. It took two trys to pull her out since the entire front end was acting like an ice plow. After pushing more of the larger chunks down under the bumper I was able to pull her out. While I was unhooking the strap, Charles apparently talked he
into trying it in the other direction. So after putting the strap back on her bumper, she turned around and went in again. She did get stuck, she she backed up and gave it another go. Once again she got stuck and back up for another chance. At this point we noticed a lot of smoke coming from the hood. The electric fan had stopped working. I was able to bypass the switch which seemed to be the problem, and thanks to Paul for more 50/50 mix and everyone else for being patient, we got the radiator refilled and she was able to try again. It took two more trys, but she was able to push herself and a lot of ice out of the hole. Apparently the mud that Suzzy ended up covered in was cold, who would have thought. The rest of Trail 2 was pretty uneventful. Some thought about playing on Crawler Ridge, but snow had started to come down pretty heavy, and it was Sunday afternoon, so common sense prevailed. We then opted to take Trail 1 from
Trail D down to Trail B before heading back to camp. That was also uneventful except for me taking one wrong turn. We got to Trail B and took that all the way back to camp. Everyone then finished packing up and started the trek home.
It was a short day but fun. I would like to thank everyone for cheering Suzzy on and being patient and helpful during the overheating.
