Big Dog Icebreaker, 2015

By Ryan Connor

We started out and did KGB trail and part of Insanity Trail with Preston leading.   All went well.  Dan nailed a tree pretty good and video on the OCC Facebook page of that.   We all had a good time. KGB trail has some nice sized rocks and they move a lot so trail can change from rig to rig.

We headed up to the Bunny Hole to play.   I did a portion of Bunny hole with Ashlyn out of the Jeep and it got a little puckery.    Preston was coaxed into doing a different approach and that video is also on OCC Facebook page.

I then lead the group down Canyon Trail then down Access Road, to the 6A access road, then all the way to U-turn hard.   We got up there a bit and decided to turn around and go to Pensyltuckian.  We jump on Pensytuckian and had a blast.  We broke for lunch half way up.   Then proceeded to the top and while Dan broke a rear axle shaft on the last big ass ledge, Jeff got turtled.    I winched Dan backwards, then I helped stack for Jeff then he winched anyways.   While I was doing that Preston tried to two strap Dan's now 2 wheel drive truck up but couldn't.   Dan ended up winching the last 60 feet.

We then took Mountain trail west and then down the Persimmon Pond Trail and all the way back to camp since Dan was done and it was about 1:15 at the time of the break.   We ended up having a lot of mileage for a short Sunday.

Our group consisted of:

Ryan Connor and daughter Ashlyn age 4 (YJ-ish thing)

Dan Elwing and Rebecca (YJ-ish thing)

Preston Crum and Matt Catterton (Bronco-ish thing on Rockwells)

Jeff Eppolite (TJ with body damage from Saturday)
